Three weeks post the release of Fast and Furious 7, another Hollywood film has taken over the Indian screens. Marvel's superhero film Avengers: Age of Ultron has hit the jackpot in India and has collected Rs.35.74 crore in the opening weekend.
Featuring almost all the Marvel superheroes, the much awaited eleventh film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Avengers: Age of Ultron - is a sequel to the 2012 release Avengers.
The film minted Rs.10.95 crore on its opening day and with each passing day, the collection at the box-office is just soaring. It went on to collect Rs.11.85 cr on Saturday and a whopping Rs.12.91 cr on Sunday.
The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson and James Spader.
Written and directed by Joss Whedon, Avengers: Age of Ultron is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series The Avengers, first published in 1963.
