All India Bakchod is currently a burning issue thanks to the controversy over its ‘Roast’ content which has been the topic of discussion. While everyone is picking sides, model-turned-actress Poonam Pandey, who is rather an expert in promoting bold content, shocked everyone when she turned down an AIB offer. Poonam Pandey refused an offer from Gursimran Khamba and Tanmay Bhat to do a podcast on All India Bakchod (AIB) as she felt it was too demeaning to the women folks.
“I have heard that AIB has been doing some good work, but then some of what I have seen wasn’t really up my alley. The digital medium has been home for me over the last four years, but then I felt that I could not participate in something like this,” says the actress.
Apparently, Poonam who had offered to strip if India won the 2011 World Cup, could not do so due to pressure from the police and the BCCI. Pandey felt that the content of the show were rather demeaning to women and hence did not pursue the offer sent by AIB which has a cult following amidst the demographic of 18-25 year olds.
“We feel that Poonam’s brand on the internet is very one-dimensional right now with viewers only tuning in to access photographs and videos. Most people only know her for being sexy and beyond that there is a very limited reach and connect with the audience. We feel if Ms. Pandey wants to connect to newer fans who will go beyond just the skin show, she should engage in more informal gatherings,” read the email from AIB in their offer to Poonam a while ago.
But Poonam, who is now a full fledged film actress after having made her debut with Nasha is now working on her second Hindi film, feels that she would rather stick to the movies and stay away from controversies of this kind.
