Mothers-in-law are often seen portraying a devil role in daily soaps. But how much interesting it would be if a girl enters a house where she has to face seven mothers-in-law instead of one.
Changing that stale old characterization and with some unique concept and ideology, Zee TV launched its new offering "Satrangi Sasural", here.
Inspired from Zee's popular Marathi show "Honaar Soon Mee Hyaa Gharchi", the story is centered on the journey of Aarushi and Vihaan, and their bonding with the seven mothers.
"Satrangi Sasural" will produce a modern age melodrama. It will target the audience from each and every region with its unique and unavoidable sounding characters.
"The Marathi show was loved in Maharashtra for its unique concept. We thought to promote it on a national basis. But our show will not be similar to it. We have adapted and scripted it on our own way," Purnendu Shekhar, writer-producer of the show, said at the press conference at JW Marriott, Friday.
"The show is titled 'Satrangi...', because every character in it has its own colour and religion," he added.
Youngsters Ravish Desai and Mugdha Chaphekar will be seen portraying the lead couple Vihaan and Aarushi in the show.
Although they will be sharing the screen with the multi star cast including veteran actress Farida Jalal and TV actresses like Samta Sagar, Bhavna Balsavar, Sadia Siddiqui, Resham Tipnis, Sonali Sachdev and Sheetal Thakkar.
Talking about the casting of seven mothers, Bhairavi Raichura, one of the producers of the show said: "The casting of characters was one of the difficult tasks for us because we had to search for seven mother-in-laws where everyone will be having different and unique personality from others".
The launch of the show witnessed a glimpse of age old "nok-jhok" between "saas and bahu", where Mugdha was seen asking suggestions from the journalists in order to win the hearts of her in-laws.
