Subrat Dutta, one more gem from National School of Drama, has been noticed in his movies, like Talaash and Bhootnath Returns and got a sharp eye of critics in his recent 'Roar'. His upcoming release 'The Shaukeens' is most awaited of his career, playing a bengali direcor who is the GURU of Khiladi Kumar. In this movie, Akshay Kumar (as in film too) imports him to get out of his Khiladi image and to grab a Natioanl Award in acting.
Says Subrat,
"I am feeling lucky to be seen in main lead in promos of the film inspite
of having my seniors of NSD and legends of cinema like Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor
and Piyush Mishra in lead. For this, I am thankful to the Captain of the ship
(director), Abhishek Sharma who convinced the producers that He is the one who
is fit to the character. No need to roam around. Akshay helped a lot as an
actor and moreover as a producer. I have become a big fan of Mr. Khiladi. He is
the most secured star in today's age of cinema, who gives the number of films
in a year and all does well at box office." He adds, "Akshay pranked
on himself in the film and helped me too in doing so. His honesty towards his
work makes him fantastic human being besides his super star image. I am not a
big name and Akshay gave me a good working environment without any
tantrum." He smile, "People says that Akshay is famous for cutting
the roles of his co-actors, but I opined 'ke
wo role banwa deta he'."
Subrat admitted
that he is beleiver of good work rather in Off beat cinema or commercial
cinema. His film, Kaphal, won the swarn kamal in 61st National Film Awards for the best children film and he won the best
actor award in Ocian Cinefan (New Delhi) in 2006 and in Cairo (Egypt),
International Film Festival in 2009. Though he points out that the national
award is always influenced by the social or political elements but he is also
convinced that it is become necessary some times to balance out all the
regions. He states that the biggest award is the audiance who applause for you
for your good work. He is doing a negative character in upcoming 'Tevar'. It
would be a suprising element, he says.
