Dare 2 Dance TV review

The show being anchored by the Khiladi, saw its premiere today. Read on to know our opinion on the first episode

Television isn’t short of dance shows, be it the grand and glamorous Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa or hardcore performance oriented series, Dance India Dance. Another one gets added to the list today; Dare 2 Dance being anchored by none other than action hero, Akshay Kumar. It’s natural for one to have high expectations when Akki is in the picture. Does he live up to the same? Read on to find out:What its’ about:

We have often seen our favourite dancers pulling off a set of sleek moves, making the stage come alive with their memorable performances. But what happens when they have to do the same fifty feet above the ground or deep under water? It’s needless to say that the dancers would be well out of their comfort zones and this is precisely what Dare 2 Dance aims to do. The show’s format is based on getting an assigned number of dancers together and making them perform in unimaginable and risky scenarios. Heights, fire, water and stunts, the show has it all.

What’s hot

The concept. Never have we seen such a clever display of entertainment before. Where we are used to seeing TV celebs perform a bunch of deadly stunts in shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi, Akshay Kumar’s Dare 2 Dance is a breath of fresh air that smartly combines the art of dance with danger in an appropriate manner. Further, the contestants are a delight to watch. Kunwar Amar’s blindfolded act left us stunned followed by Scarlet Wilson’s sexy freestyle number. Akki on the other hand is a wow factor in the show, and keeps the atmosphere light with his quirky puns and one liners. Where the dancers constantly need support and encouragement, the khiladi fills in at the right time.

What’s not

The judging pattern. The fate of each contestant’s performance lies in the hands of two well acclaimed dancers and choreographers who assign a green card(for a good act) or a red card(for a bad act ) to the dancers at the end of their numbers. Where the participants are risking a whole lot to put up a daring display for the nation to watch, we believe the judging pattern could have been included on a larger basis with more members on the panel and a voting system instead of the card one, where each one could elect their favourite act from the round and declare their pick as the winner of the day.

What to do:

Where perfection is an impossible task to achieve, Dare 2 Dance fortunately doesn’t dig a pit for itself. The show can certainly be credited for its innovative presentation. Hence, we recommend you to have a dekko at it. For all the dance enthusiasts and daredevils, Akshay Kumar’s new venture wouldn’t disappoint you, take our word for it!
